Barnsley vs Wycombe Wanderers Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

  • Wycombe have won just one of their eight away games this season, losing five.
  • The Chairboys travel to Oakwell without a win in their last six league games (D4, L2).
  • Prior to defeats against promotion candidates Brentford and Bournemouth, Barnsley posted three consecutive home wins without conceding.

Tykes to Best Lowly Opposition Once Again

Barnsley have won their last three outings against fellow bottom half opposition and the Tykes can see off strugglers Wycombe at Oakwell this Wednesday night.

Recent defeats to Cardiff City (3-0), Brentford (0-1) and Bournemouth (0-4) clearly show that Barnsley have difficulty matching the best sides in the Championship, but the Tykes have been fairly consistent thus far against teams in and around them.

They’ve beaten Derby County (0-2), Nottingham Forest (2-0) and Birmingham City (1-2) in recent weeks and a repeat of those performances here should be more than enough to dispatch a Wycombe side who have failed to win any of their last six outings (D4, L2).

The Chairboys’ flurry of draws over the past month or so is an obvious negative against backing a Barnsley success this week, although their only two draws on the road have been against second-bottom Derby and a Preston side who had lost six from their first seven at Deepdale.

Wycombe’s other six matches on their travels have yielded just one win and five defeats, so you can see why we fancy the hosts to get the job done in this one.

Barnsley have averaged just one goal per game at Oakwell but have kept four clean sheets in eight starts, so we’re also tipping up a 1-0 score-line in favour of Valerian Ismael’s charges.
