21st ranked Minnesota (9-1, 2-1) will travel to Madison to take on the 6th ranked Wisconsin (8-2, 2-1). The Golden Gophers are coming off an impressive 25-point victory over Michigan State.
The Badgers will be looking to bounce back from a home loss to Maryland. Both teams sit at 2-1 and a win would push them into a five-way tie atop the Big Ten.
Minnesota Betting Preview
After being embarrassed in the Big Ten opener against Illinois (92-65 loss), the Golden Gophers have started playing their best basketball of the season. They have wins over St. Louis, Iowa and Michigan State in their last three games.
Marcus Carr has taken his game to another level and leads Minnesota in scoring (24.0), assists (6.1) and steals (.9). Carr has scored 15 or more points in every game this season, and more than 30 in two of the last three games.
Drake transfer Liam Robbins is starting to blend well with Carr, as he is second on the team in scoring at 13.1 per contest. Robbins isn’t the only transfer starring for Minnesota, as Utah transfer Both Gach is also averaging in double figures at 11.7 per game.
Minnesota is ranked 29th overall by Kenpom. The offense is 29th in efficiency and the defense ranks 39th.
Wisconsin Betting Preview
Wisconsin was starting to enter the 1-line conversation for the NCAA tournament, before their worst performance of the year against Maryland. The Badgers are one of the most experienced teams in the nation, but lack any elite game changing talent.
D’Mitrik Trice leads the team in scoring (14.2) and assists (3.2). Fellow senior Micah Potter is emerging as the Badgers best player as he is second on the team in scoring (12.2) and leads the team in rebounding at 6.9 per contest.
Brad Davidson and Nate Reuters are also averaging in double figures for Wisconsin. Reuvers leads the team in blocked shots at 1.5 per game and Davidson is second in assists with 2.8 a game.
Kenpom has Wisconsin as the fifth best team in the country. The offense is 9th in efficiency while the defense ranks 7th.
Golden Gophers/Badgers Betting Lines

The Golden Gophers seem to be peaking and the perfect time. After the loss to Illinois, Minnesota is playing a totally different brand of basketball and Marcus Carr is making sure that Luka Garza doesn’t walk away with Big Ten Player of the Year honors.
After their most impressive performance of the year against Louisville, Wisconsin played two of their three worst performances of the year against Maryland and Nebraska. I think coaches are starting to figure out ways to slow this Badger attack. I like Minnesota to cover and I have an eye on the under, especially if it moves to 142.
