Donald was employed by Central Hudson for 35 years, retiring in 2000. Don served in the United States Air Force, was a member of the Earlton Fire Department, trustee of the High Hill Methodist Church, and was an avid sports fan who also coached little league. He was often seen at numerous Greene County high school sports games, concerts, and musicals. Especially school functions that his kids and grandkids were involved in.

Donald was a very dedicated family man who was loved and will be missed by his wife of 60 years, Doris, as well as daughter Donna (Matt) Labuda, son Dwayne (Michelle) Patterson, Granddaughters Devon Labuda, Nikki (Andy) Czaplicki, Kyle Labuda and grandsons Gregory, Tyler, Nicholas, and Ryan Patterson; great grandsons Zane and Skye Czaplicki, as well as another great grandchild expected in February 2021; and was predeceased by a great grandson Jace Czaplicki in 2018. He is also survived by brothers Lyle (Arline), Tommy, Billy (Joan), David (Patty), Raymond (Victoria), and Gary (Jane) and a sister Sally Morey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Doris and Donald were inseparable. They always attended community dinners, senior citizen trips, square dances, and enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, hunting, and most of all playing Five Crowns card games with fellow campers, friends, and family.

Due to the COVID pandemic, the family will be having a celebration of life in Spring of 2021.
