The NBA started their 2020-21 regular season just in time for Christmas Day. With five games being televised nationally on Friday, the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics find themselves slated smack-dab in the middle of the festivities. Their game has a 5:00PM ET tip-off on ABC.
Both teams started off the regular season right. The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Golden State Warriors in a blowout, while the Boston Celtics beat the Milwaukee Bucks with a last-second shot. With both teams entering Christmas with a 1-0 record, only one will walk away 2-0.
If you like offense, you’ll definitely want to have this basketball game on while eating Christmas dinner — or whatever you’re doing when this game starts. These are two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference and both have a lot to prove this season. It should be fun from start to finish!
Brooklyn Nets Betting Preview: Can the Nets improve to 2-0 on the season?
The Brooklyn Nets finally have a healthy roster, which they struggled to maintain last season with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant missing a significant amount of time. The two are back this season and have already shown what they’re capable of together in their first game of the season.
The Nets beat the Warriors 125-99 and didn’t show a whole lot of weaknesses. Kyrie Irving led the way with 26 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Kevin Durant chipped in an impressive 22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block. Caris LaVert had 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists off the bench.
This team is dangerous and they’ll be able to match up with anyone this season — including the Boston Celtics.
Boston Celtics Betting Preview: Will the Celtics win their second of the season?
The Boston Celtics opened their season off with a bang. They defeated the very tough Milwaukee Bucks 122-121 thanks to a last-second three-pointer from Jayson Tatum and a missed free throw by the Bucks. It was exactly what they needed from Tatum after handing him a long-term contract this offseason.
Jayson Tatum finished with 30 points and 7 rebounds, but it was Jaylen Brown that led the team in points with 33 vs. the Bucks. Brown also had 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. Jeff Teague, who was added this offseason, scored 19 points off the bench for the Celtics.
Boston is a team that will only get better once Kemba Walker returns. We should receive an update in early January about his status moving forward.

The Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets are two teams that will find themselves deep in the playoffs this season. With that being said, this is just the second game of plenty more this season. It’s their only matchup between each other for the first half of the season, so it’s an important one either way.
Personally, I feel the Brooklyn Nets are a more complete team. Kyrie Irving will face his former team and while I think it’ll be close for most of the game, I see the Nets running away with it at the end.
Final Score Prediction 128-119, Brooklyn Nets.
