The Clemson Tigers will be looking to avenge their only loss of the season when they take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the ACC Championship Game, which will undoubtedly determine one of the spots in the College Football Playoff. The Irish will be looking to complete an undefeated season and have two wins over the runner up from a season ago.
MyBookie has a moneyline of Clemson -380, while Notre Dame checks in at +290.
Clemson Betting Preview: Win and Get In
The Clemson Tigers come into play with a record of 9-1 on the season. The Tigers are currently ranked No. 3 in the country and have one of the best offenses, not only in the ACC but in the entire nation.
That offense was on full display a week ago against Virginia Tech in a 45-10 blowout of the Hokies. Quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Trevor Lawrence didn’t have an exceptional game passing, throwing for just 195 yards and a touchdown. What he didn’t accomplish in the air, he took care of on the ground, carrying the ball seven times for 41 yards and two more scores.
The Tigers scored four rushing touchdowns in the game, once again proving that they have so many weapons on offense that they are never going to be out of a game. Clemson’s defense also forced three Virginia Tech turnovers in the game and held the Hokies to just 333 yards of total offense in the game.
On the season, Lawrence is playing like a potential No. 1 draft pick. He has completed 69% of his passes for 2,431 yards and 20 touchdowns.
He has only been intercepted three times and sacked 11 times. Lawrence has also rushed for six touchdowns.
Running back Travis Etienne is averaging 5.1 yards per carry. He has gained 758 yards and scored 12 touchdowns.
Wide receiver Amari Rodgers is having a tremendous season. He has caught 61 passes for 845 yards and six scores.
Notre Dame Betting Preview: National Championship Aspirations
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish come into play with a record of 10-0 and are ranked No. 2 in the country. The Irish were the only team to put a blemish on Clemson’s record this season and will be looking for the sweep and a spot in the College Football Playoff.
A win will cement their place in the tournament, but a loss will mean that the Irish will likely need help as Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Iowa State could all move up with an Irish loss.
Notre Dame hammered Syracuse last weekend by the score of 45-21. Notre Dame was very good on third down in the game, going 7-of-15. They gained 568 yards of total offense.
What is concerning is that they allowed 414 yards of offense to a team with a 1-10 record. The Orange were able to gain 229 yards on the ground. Syracuse averaged 6.5 yards per carry in the game.
Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book completed 24 of 37 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns. The Irish had two 100-yard rushers in the game.
Kyren Williams carried the ball 20 times for 110 yards, and Chris Tyree had six carries for 109 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown was a 94-yard scamper.
Wide receiver Javon McKinley had a great game as well, catching seven passes for 111 yards and three touchdowns.
On the season, Book has completed 63% of his passes for 2,382 yards and 15 touchdowns. He has been intercepted just twice and has been sacked 17 times.
Book has also rushed for 465 yards and scored eight touchdowns. Williams eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark last week and has gained 1,011 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. McKinley leads the team in receiving with 37 catches for 660 yards and three scores.
Betting Lines and Predictions
MyBookie has a moneyline on this game of Clemson -380, while Notre Dame currently sits at +290. Clemson is favored by 10.5 points, and the over/under is 61.
When Notre Dame defeated Clemson earlier this season, Lawrence did not play because of a positive COVID-19 test. The Irish were able to secure a seven-point overtime victory, but it remains to be seen if they can beat the Tigers with Lawrence in tow.
Clemson is in a class along with Alabama ahead of everyone else in college football. Notre Dame will be competitive in this game, but don’t expect them to catch lightning in a bottle twice.
