NCAA College Football Betting Preview: Louisiana Tech Bulldogs vs. North Texas Mean Green – Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020

After a month-long break due to COVID-19 precautions, LA Tech returns to action to take on North Texas, who saw their two-game win streak get snapped by UTSA last Saturday.

This game will begin at 6 pm ET in North Texas with limited fan attendance and LA Tech coming in as the road favorites.

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs Betting Preview: Come Out Swinging

It has been a long time since the Bulldogs have seen action. The last game they played was on Halloween well over a month ago. However, they have cleared the health protocols and are ready to step back onto the football field.

LA Tech uses two quarterbacks in their offense, with Luke Anthony as their traditional pocket passer and Aaron Allen, their dual-threat option.

In their last game against UAB, Luke Anthony was mediocre, throwing for only 141 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Allen had the much better game throwing for 191 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns, the second one tying the game to send it into OT.

The North Texas defense has not been good this year, and these two quarterbacks have a chance to put up some solid numbers overall, provided they aren’t too rusty from the month long break with no games.

North Texas Mean Green Betting Preview: Trust in the Run Game

North Texas has their own duo of quarterbacks as well, Austin Aune and Jason Beane. However, the real strength of this team’s offense is their run game. The Mean Green averages 246.9 rushing yards per game, which leads their conference.

Jason Bean is the more effective rushing QB but when the team goes through the air, expect to see Jaelon Darden, who leads all FBS receivers with 12 receiving touchdowns.

On the other hand, LA Tech has dealt with the pass fairly well on defense and has snagged eight interceptions over the season. BeeJay Williamson has three on the year, so look for him to be the one covering the Mean Green’s top receiver.

If North Texas plans to win this game at home, they will have to stick to their potent running game and trust in their offense to outscore the Bulldogs and hope they catch them flat-footed coming off of their month-long absence.

LA Tech at North Texas Betting Odds & Lines

Bookmaker has LA Tech favored in this game with a spread of -2.

I see North Texas beating the spread and taking this game as home underdogs. Granted, +2 points is by no means a lot of cushion, but I believe that home field will help North Texas in what most consider to be a fairly even matchup.

Plus, LA Tech has not seen in-game action for over a month. So, if North Texas can jump out quick and get a lead before the Bulldogs can find their stride, I think North Texas will pull off the upset and cruise to a victory at home.
