NFL Betting Preview: Carolina Panthers vs. Denver Broncos – Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020

While most teams in the NFL are still jockeying for their spot in the playoff race, some teams left are on the outside looking in, and we have two of those teams going against each other Sunday. The Denver Broncos will be on the road to take on the Carolina Panthers.

Denver is coming off a Sunday Night Football loss to the Chiefs, and Carolina is fresh off a bye for this week. Christian McCaffrey has a chance to return for this contest, so even though both of these teams are out of the race, it will still be a good one to tune into.

Let’s break down the matchup and help you determine where to be putting your money.

Denver Broncos Betting Preview: A Solid Foundation to Grow With

Expectations were not high for Denver coming into this season. In a division with the Super Bowl champs and a solid Raiders team, they would be hard-pressed to find success amongst the AFC.

With all that has happened in their organization, they found a way to put some pieces together. Drafting Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick was a smart move for this front office, as both receivers look strong and like they will be playing on Sundays for a long time.

Drew Lock has shown flashes of good play, but needs to become more consistent if he is going to stick around as the starter. I enjoy their defense, and they are actually a fun team to watch as they are competitive nearly every week they take the field.

Carolina Panthers Betting Preview: A Season Torn by Injuries

Speaking of difficult divisions in football, look no further than the NFC South. With New Orleans as one of the handful of elite teams, Tampa Bay and Atlanta, Carolina has it rough.

After only two games this season, they lost McCaffrey for most of the year. Upon his return, he had a big day but injured his shoulder towards the end of the game. He has been out since.

He has a chance to make a return for this game, but you have to wonder if Carolina will take a cautious approach with nothing to play for the rest of the season. I don’t think we will see him, though Mike Davis has performed adequately as a fill-in during the interim.

Broncos at Panthers Betting Odds and Lines

JazzSports has this Panthers team favored at home at -3.5.

Denver is one of the worst offenses in the league, averaging only 19 points per game. I like the Panthers being a home favorite in this one. They have had an unlucky year so far, but they play hard, and I think they will take this one.

Take the favorites in this one. Carolina at -3.5 is easy to buy into, and you might even be betting on the upside of McCaffrey’s return.

If he is on the field, there is no way they lose.
