The AFC West is essentially on the line Sunday night when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. The Raiders have given the Chiefs their only loss of the season but trail the Chiefs by two games in the division race.
The Chiefs have not lost a game since falling to the Raiders in Week 5, while the Raiders have won three of four since beating the Chiefs.
Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview: Stay on Top
The Kansas City Chiefs come into play with a record of 8-1, two games ahead of Las Vegas in the AFC West. The Chiefs have won four games in a row, and the defending Super Bowl Champions have not suffered any championship hangover whatsoever.
They are poised to make another run with basically the same pieces as they had a season ago. Kansas City won their last game on November 8, 33-31, over the Carolina Panthers. The Chiefs trailed this game 17-13 at halftime before quarterback Patrick Mahomes went to work.
He finished the game with a line of 30 for 45, 372 yards, and four touchdowns. Tight end Travis Kelce was on the receiving end of many of Mahomes’ completions. Kelce caught ten passes for 159 yards. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill also had a huge day, catching nine passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
Mahomes is playing at an elite level. He has completed 67% of his passes for 2,687 yards and 25 touchdowns. He has been intercepted once the entire season. Rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire has carried the majority of the load in the backfield, carrying the ball 126 times for 586 yards and two scores.
Kelce, Hill, and Mecole Hardman have received the lion’s share of the passes. The trio has combined for 127 receptions for 1,814 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Las Vegas Raiders Betting Preview: Keep Winning
The Las Vegas Raiders come into play with a record of 6-3, two games behind the Chiefs in the AFC West. The Raiders have beaten Kansas City already this season, making them the only team that can make that claim.
Since that win in Week five, the Raiders have only been beaten by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Raiders currently hold the first wild card spot in the AFC playoff race, so while a division title is a tall order, making the playoffs requires the Raiders to keep winning.
At the moment, they control their own destiny. In their last game, Las Vegas hammered the Denver Broncos 37-12. Running back Josh Jacobs starred in the game, carrying the ball 21 times for 112 yards and two touchdowns. DeVontae Booker also scored twice on the ground for the Raiders. He carried the ball 16 times for 81 yards.
On the season, quarterback Derek Carr has completed 69% of his passes for 2,156 yards and 16 touchdowns. He has been intercepted just twice. Jacobs has been sensational this season, carrying the ball 182 times for 700 yards and eight touchdowns.
Carr spreads the ball around, as six players have at least 100 yards receiving. Tight end Darren Waller leads this group with 53 receptions for 431 yards and four touchdowns.
Chiefs at Raiders Betting Odds & Lines
MyBookie has the Chiefs favored by 7.5 points. This figures to be a shootout on Sunday Night Football as these two teams are no strangers to the end zone. However, Kansas City has so many weapons that can strike at any time that Las Vegas will have a hard time keeping up.
Couple that with the fact that head coach Andy Reid has had an extra week to prepare for this game, and you have the recipe for a Chiefs win. Take Kansas City and the points in this one.
