Heading into Week 16, only six teams have secured playoff spots. A total of sixteen teams still have a chance to play after NFL Week 17 on January 3. Read more about the NFL Playoffs in our update.
Can you think of another time when so many NFL teams had a chance to make the playoffs so late in the season? Sure, franchises like Kansas City, Green Bay, and New Orleans have stamped their tickets to the playoffs.
But other teams like the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, and Washington Football Team remain alive to play past NFL Week 17. All told, sixteen teams remain alive to stamp their ticket to the postseason.
Sixteen teams represent half the league. With so many playoff chances remaining, expect teams to go no holds barred in the final couple of weeks. For bookies that offer free betting software, things are about to heat up.
When it comes to the NFL, fewer games don’t always translate into less action. Sometimes, fewer NFL games mean more action, which is why pay per head agents must get their sportsbooks in order before the NFL Playoffs start on January 9.
Doing so requires knowing which teams are likely to make it to the NFL Playoffs. Knowing information you can pass onto your players strengthen the player and bookie relationship. Check out information on the teams that have made it, what’s going in the wild NFC East, and why, if you haven’t yet, you should import your players to PayPerHead.
Chiefs, Bills, Packers, Saints, Seahawks, and Steelers are in
Kansas City, Buffalo, Green Bay, New Orleans, Seattle, and Pittsburgh notched their tickets to the playoffs before Week 16. Keep reading for more info on each playoff-bound squad.
- Kansas City Chiefs
The defending Super Bowl Champions head into Week 16 having beaten the team many consider the best in the NFC, the New Orleans Saints. Kansas City failed to cover the spread, though.
Does that mean the Chiefs won’t have a great playoff? Not at all. As long as Patrick Mahomes throws for KC, the Chiefs have a shot at winning.
Gambling business owners must beware of Super Bowl futures on Kansas City. Set max betting limits to ensure big bets on the current champs to repeat doesn’t destroy your book.
- Buffalo Bills
Like with Kansas City, agents should set max betting limits. Also, set max payout limits. So that bookies know, the Bills are a last-second Hail Mary pass from the Cardinals Kyler Murray to DeAndre Hopkins from having an eight-game winning streak.
- Green Bay Packers
With two games to go, the Packers have a one-game lead over the New Orleans Saints for the best record in the NFC. If the Packers beat the Titans in Week 16 or the rival Bears in Week 17, they get home field no matter what the Saints do.
The reason? Green Bay beat New Orleans in their head-to-head match earlier in the season. The Packers are another team with a great shot to win the Super Bowl.
- New Orleans Saints
The Saints lost to Kansas City in Week 15. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Drew Brees returned to the field. If New Orleans can grab the second seed, they’d get a week to get healthy for the playoffs.
Playing in the wildcard round last season knocked the Saints from the playoffs. This season, Sean Payton is dead set on grabbing the second seed and starting the Super Bowl run after a week of rest.
- Seattle Seahawks
Seattle’s defense has shown signs of peaking. That’s a good thing heading into the playoffs. If the defense can step it up, the Seahawks can win the Super Bowl.
Quarterback Russell Wilson is as good as it gets. Russell hit a rough patch in the middle of the season. But in the past couple of weeks, he’s played like his old self.
- Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers head into NFL Week 16 after three straight losses. Pittsburgh was the hottest team in the league until a loss to the Washington Football Team back in Week 13.
Pittsburgh no longer looks like the juggernaut that dominated foes early in the season. Of the six teams that have qualified for the NFL Playoffs, Pittsburgh is the one white label sportsbook agents have the least to fear.
The Steelers look like the least likely playoff-bound team to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy. If there is any team among the six that doesn’t require max limits, it’s Pittsburgh.
Who will win the NFC East?
Every team in the NFC East, the Washington Football Team, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, and Philadelphia Eagles have a chance to win the division and get into the playoffs.
At first glance, it doesn’t seem smart to set max betting limits on any of the four. But two of the four could surprise in the playoffs.
The Washington Football Team boasts one of the best defensive lines in football. The rest of the defense in D.C. isn’t bad either.
The New York Giants allow less than 23 points per, ranking ninth in the league. If either the Giants or the WFT makes it to the NFL Playoffs, the best teams in the NFC, including the Saints and Packers, had better be ready.
AFC South to come down to the Titans or Colts
Either the Tennessee Titans or the Indianapolis Colts will win the AFC South. The Titans have the edge because their offense is one of the best in the league.
Derrick Henry is impossible to stop. Ryan Tannehill is playing out of his mind. If Tennessee’s defense can get it together, and if the Titans can make the playoffs, Henry and Tannehill could lead the Titans to a second straight AFC Championship.
Use gambling software to set max limits on both the Titans and the Colts. There’s more to fear with Tennessee. But Indianapolis has a good enough defense and a veteran quarterback in Philip Rivers to get it done.
What three AFC teams and three NFC teams look good for wildcards?
The AFC is deep. The Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, and Miami Dolphins are all at 10-4 or 9-5. The team that loses the AFC South could grab a wildcard as well.
The team that appears to have the best shot among the contenders is Cleveland. The Browns take on the Jets in Week 16 before battling the rival Steelers at home in Week 17.
The Baltimore Ravens could secure the other wildcard. The Colts, Dolphins, or Titans will fight for the third wildcard. Indianapolis looks solid. The Colts are at the reeling Pittsburgh in Week 16. Then on January 3, they take on the horrible Jacksonville Jaguars.
In the NFC, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and either the Rams or Seahawks appear destined to play on wildcard weekend.
Seattle hosts the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16. Whichever team wins that game most likely wins the division with the loser grabbing the wildcard.
The third wildcard team should be the Arizona Cardinals. The Cards are versus the 49ers and then at the Rams. Both are winnable games.
More importantly for Arizona, their top competition for the final wildcard spot in the NFC, the Chicago Bears, must play the Green Bay Packers in Week 17. Not only that, but Arizona is a game ahead of Chicago in the playoff race.
Use PayPerHead software during the playoffs
The most important thing to remember about the NFL Playoffs is to set max betting and max payout limits on Super Bowl LV futures. Set limits as soon as possible because a chance remains that a massive underdog like the Browns could win on February 7.
Don’t take the chance of having to make a +2800 or so payout on a $100 bet. Underdogs have won the Vince Lombardi Trophy before. Use sports betting software to set limits.
Also, if you haven’t yet, import your players to PayPerHead. We’re offering great promotions right now, including 15% per month on referred friends deposits and $3 per head from when you sign-up to Super Bowl LV on February 7. We’re also the only pph sportsbook company that provides a way to pay and collect online. Check us out if you haven’t yet.
