Tottenham Hotspur vs Leeds Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

  • Leeds United’s Premier League games this season have averaged 3.75 goals per game.
  • Leeds have seen four of their last six games feature four or more goals.
  • Tottenham have scored at least two goals in eight of their last nine competitive home games.

Spurs look for New Year resurgence

Tottenham’s meeting with Fulham on Wednesday was called off just hours before kickoff due to a COVID-19 outbreak at Fulham and, while that did allow Spurs a crucial extra couple of days of rest, a home meeting with the Cottagers was seen as the perfect opportunity for them to get back on track.

Instead, Jose Mourinho’s side head into this game winless in four Premier League games and supporters in north London have started bemoaning the negative tactics employed by the manager.

That being said, they have still won three of their last four home league games and have scored two or more goals in all of those victories, so a three point haul is well within their reach on Saturday.

Goalfests following Leeds around

Negative tactics are unlikely to work against the unrelenting attacking frenzy of Leeds. The Whites thrashed West Brom 5-0 last time out but, for all the media praise of Marcelo Bielsa, the defensive side of their game is almost non-existent.

Indeed, the visitors have the second worst defensive record in the top flight with 30 goals conceded but, on the other hand, only Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have scored more goals than them.

More goals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

In other words, you can expect goals whenever Leeds are involved. Their matches this season have averaged an incredible 3.75 goals per game and four of their last six outings have featured four or more goals.

Equally, Spurs have scored at least two goals in eight of their last nine competitive home games, so we’re opting for over 3.5 goals on Saturday.

We’re also backing Spurs to take the win with a 3-2 correct score prediction. Leeds have averaged 1.88 goals per game this season but they have conceded three or more goals in four of their eight away games this season.

Heung-min Son is one to watch on Saturday, too. The South Korean international is the perfect candidate for the anytime goalscorer market when faced with a Leeds back line that really struggle to cope with runs in behind. He has scored 11 league goals this season and can terrorise the Whites defence here.

Tottenham injuries and team news

Tottenham are still without Gareth Bale and Giovani Lo Celso, but apart from that Mourinho can boast a clean bill of health.

Japhet Tanganga, Lucas Moura and Vinicius are all recovered, although none are likely to come straight into the starting lineup here.

Leeds injuries and team news

Mateusz Klich is a doubt after picking up a thigh injury and could be replaced by Jamie Shackleton.

Pablo Hernandez will hope to get a start here, but not many changes are expected from the side that demolished West Brom last time out.
