Twas The Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas,

And all through the land,

Players stared at their screens,

Looking to shove a winning hand.

While normally out enjoying a bit of festive cheer,

People around the world knew the holidays were different this year.

No big Christmas dinners nor New Year’s Eve bashes,

Instead, poker pros grind tourneys looking for min-cashes.

The year began normal but in the blink of an eye,

Plenty of poker players let out a deathly cry,

For a new virus named after a Mexican beer,

Meant we’d be inside for much of the year.

As the dealers and players retreated into their homes,

Both recs and pros wondered what the year would hold.

No trips to the sportsbook after a big tourney cash,

No rushing between hands for a cigarette in the cold.

But with trouble comes a chance to shine,

A new online poker boom proved that poker is fine.

Sitting at home with nothing to do,

They figured why not online poker and play a hand or two.

With all these new players logging online,

Winning sessions seemed to be happening all the time,

Yet smartest of players though knew where to look,

YourPokerDream rakeback helped boost their bankbook.

Donkeys and fish are the best type of dinner,

But variance is the pro’s biggest threat.

Rakeback and promos helped even it out,

Making it easier to call that big bet.

In a year with no poker though,

There were plenty of questions.

What about summer in Vegas?

And a World Series of Poker session?

Fortunately for all, WSOP and GGPoker came to the rescue.

Bracelets would be won – online but not live.

The prop bets were made, the players excited.

But in this new format, which players would thrive?

The end of summer brought us the Main Event,

With 5802 entries, the field was quite decent.

The winner took down his first WSOP bracelet,

Stoyan Madanzhiev proved Bulgarian’s have true grit.

Yet of course in this year the story is not done,

A couple months later, behold a second Main Event to be won,

Starting online, the final table would be live,

With $1 million and a bracelet on the line.

It’s not only the WSOP that kept us in awe,

A huge heads-up challenge was also a draw,

Doug Polk threw down the gauntlet to a long-time foe,

And Daniel Negreanu was ready to put up the dough,

And so the battle began in the city of Vegas,

Negreanu delivered his usual hand reading gazes,

While his early wins took many by surprise,

The challenge would be filled with both lows and highs.

By the time of this writing, the match is not won.

Although many out there, think that Negreanu is done.

With Polk up over half a million dollars,

A bet on Daniel won’t get many callers.

It’s not only challenges that keep us excited,

Fighting against cheaters keeps players united,

Mike Postle made plays no one understood,

But in reality, there is nobody that good.

Thanks to the Internet it all came to light,

That the games being played were really not right,

While it seemed that the stream may have been hacked,

In the end, the whistleblower is the one who got sacked.

It’s been quite a year for us at this site,

From freerolls to bonuses, we hope we treated you right.

But as the time comes to say good-bye to this year,

We hope that you’ll join us in a celebratory cheer.

YourPokerDream would like to now take this chance,

To say to our readers and players in advance,

May your holidays be filled with pleasure and glee,

And Merry Christmas to you all – wherever you may be.
